I’m so happy you've found your way to my corner of the internet! I've always been passionate about health, and this blog is the manifestation of years of frustration with the confusing and often scary health information available online. I've created west coast wellness for women from all different backgrounds as a source of health, fitness, and wellness inspiration. I always aim to give the most accurate, fact-checked and up to date information. My sources, unless otherwise listed, are from physicians I know personally, PubMed, JAMA, the CDC, WHO, and other reliable journals; but please contact your physician if you are having any health concerns, the internet didn't go to med school!
The World Health Organization's definition of health states that "[h]ealth is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity". This means that the best medicine, is preventative medicine; and prevention comes in multiple forms. On this site I will post about fitness, body positivity, mental health, social justice, sexuality, nutrition, fertility, feminism, relationships, disease prevention, and any other topic that relates to how we, as women, live our lives in a world that often seems like an uphill battle.
I've had my own struggles with health and wellness and have grown to appreciate that I am a work in progress - always working, always progressing. I hope that I can leverage my background, a B.S. in Health Education, an M.P.H. in Public Health and over 10 years of experience in the health-ed/healthcare field, combined with my own personal experience, to form a community of like-minded women, all proud of the work in progresses that we are.
This project is nothing without you, so please comment, ask questions, let me know what is important to you, and share your story using #mywcw on all social media platforms for a chance to be featured on west coast wellness!
Again, thank you for being here, and welcome!
